Joshua redux...
Where do I begin?
First off, let me say that Iraqis are some of the silliest people I’ve ever met (stinkiest too.) The Camp mayor cell just finished building the new BX and has subsequently allowed a few local-national merchants to set up kiosks outside the entrance and exits of the PX. Here, they are allowed to peddle their wares to soldiers and they enter and exit the PX. These little congregations are affectionately nicknamed ‘Hajji-marts.’ A few days ago, I was perusing one of the contents of a kiosk at the hajji mart and this particular LN was selling T-shirts. One T-shirt had a picture of Saddam Hussein holding up a bum sign that read “Will dictate for Food” and another said “Who’s your Baghdaddi.” But the funniest one that I have ever seen was a simple white shirt with green lettering that said:“If you’re Sunni, You ain’t Shiite.” Maybe you had to have seen it, but to us out here who deal with the ever present sectarian conflict, this pretty much had us all rolling on the floor. I bought two of them :)
So what have I been up to for the last two months? In early January, I started going to the gym on a regular basis and I started on my little project that as of last weekis nearing completion (in a manner of speaking). As far as the gym goes... Im up from 175 bench max to 255, and I can d 70 push-ups in on go. Theres not really much else to do out here when y'ave got free time lol. Um february... I mainly worked on my project and supported my interrogator... Oh yeah, me and Lenell called it quits again ( and for the last time ) that girl... I worry about her but someday she will figure out what is going on in the head ofhers and make someone happy... As for me, I can deal with that type of person in my life right now...however, I only wish the best for her...
Um we've had a few more mortar attacks but it seems that since the surge, things have died down some. Well I had to write this in two sittings and I tookover tonight at the second paragraph and im really tired tonight and cant think and Im using too many ands and this has turned into a run-on sentence and im done now.
Love yall
I will leave y'all with the lyrics to one of the songs that I listen to all the time
"There's another world inside of me, that you may never see
There's secrets in this life that I can't hide
Somewhere in this darkness there's a light that I can't find
Maybe it's too far away...
Or Maybe I'm just blind...
Maybe I'm just blind...
So hold me when I'm here
Right me when I'm wrong
Hold me when I'm scared
And love me when I'm gone
Everything I am
And everything in me
Wants to be the one that you wanted me to be
I'll never let you down
Even if I could
I'd give up everything
If only for your good
So hold me when I'm here
Right me when I'm wrong
You can hold me when I'm scared
You won't always be there
So love me when I'm gone
Love me when I'm gone...
When your education x-ray
Cannot see under my skin
I won't tell you a damn thing
That I could not tell my friends
Roaming through this darkness
I'm alive but I'm alone
Part of me is fighting this
But part of me is gone
Maybe I'm just blind...
Love me when I'm gone...
When I'm Gone..."

Insert creative title here...
I just hit my 50 day mark here inIraq and I've got to tell ya, time sure is flying by for me. Lets break it down for yall for the last three weeks...
December 16th to the 24th, nothing to report here.
Christmas was cool, i worked all night and slept all day haha but it was cool because i got to call a few of my relatives and catch up. I got a lot of nice care packages from a lot of my family and friends. I'm really tired right now so pardon me if this post is a bit lackluster, i just felt the urge to atleast update the page :)
After christmans came newyears. Yay...yeah no. I spent the passover in the gunners seat of an armored HMMV while being geared out in full body armor (including kevlar helmet) with all my guns. The best part was the Turret mounted Fully automatic "SAW" assault weapon that i had in my charge. It has a 200 round drum that feeds into weapon and puts all that ammo downrange in about 60 seconds. thats twoshots a second of deadly fun. Sadly i didnt getto shoot anyone but man i was ready to.
After that whole anning battle positions thing was over it was about 1 AM in '07... ewww i was pissed! haha but its ok, that one hell of a story that i will never forget... i obviously left out a lot of the details that i will probably fill you in on if you ask me to, just dont want to put them out on the www for all eyes to see. Well ive got to be off... i'll talk to you guys later... hopefull i can make a post tomorrow that has a little bit more bounce to it.

So freakin painful...
Ok, so a funny thing occurred to me today out of the blue... Have you ever done something so incredibly embarrassing that you wanted to just run from the room screaming? We'll about a year or so ago while i was still stationed at Lackland and i was working at Medina... i knew this Girl who was pregnant the last time i had seen her. The next time I had seen her, had to have been about 4-5 months after i found out that she was pregnant. So i saw her one day in one of the establishments on base and i asked her when she was due... she was with some guy, and she appeared to be about ready to pop! We'll she gave me this look as if she had must seen a Puppy get shot in the middle of a playground. Ab-so-lute-ly crushed and she goes “i had her about two months ago”
OH EM Effin' Gee!!
i wanted to run from the room... well... run from it screaming lol. It was excruciating... ODD moment! So i tried to play it off with oh yeah thats awesome... whats her name.. you know... completely disregarding the fact that i just basically call but called her a complete heffer. :( so yeah that was the worst thing ever... and i thought id share with you one of the millions of random thoughts that stop in to say hello to muh brain every day.
Oh and P.S. Its raining cats and dogs out here in iRaq. Who'd have thunk it. Y'all write me to meh email and leave me some comments!! mailto:somnioblivio@gmail.com
Love y'all

Strike a pose... There's nothin to it...
God bless Army construction.. Lord knows they try.... :P
Theres three things you should take from this picture, they are:
1. The surprisingly beautiful Iraqi Sky at 9AM
2. Some sweet, geared out Hummers
3. The ARMY doing what they do best in the lower bottom right of the pic. haha...
This is a picture of one of the officers from Saddam's former Regime. Its now ours. :)
.
Anyways guys... just wanted to pass on the good stuff....
My 1st day off since November the 9th is coming up on saturday!! (that's friday night for you guys :P) and i plan on taking about 5.4 million pictures of the base... i'll talk to you guys later :)

Incoming...!
“INCOMING! INCOMING! TAKE COVER! I REPEAT… TAKE COVER! THIS IS NOT AN EXERCISE! TAKE COVER! INCOMING!”
We all bolted instantly toward the barriers as if we were madmen after someone. It was a little bit odd, watching everyone scatter like ants toward safety. So we posted up behind the barrier (this barrier was about 15 feet high and made of two foot think concrete) we felt a little safe. So we waited and waited… nothing. Pins and needles for five minutes… it was excruciating! then over the loud speaker, comes the same voice, false alarm… carry on, ALL CLEAR!” we all looked at each other and burst into laughter. Then we proceeded to make fun of how each other ran and how we all thought that everyone else was all scared. I wasn’t scared… I swear… honest… haha :P
I mean it was a sort of feeling that made me feel like “This is going to be sweet!” But yeah, we continued to walk back to work as if nothing had happened. This place is going to give me a heart attack I swear it. Lol.
